Excruciating pain and shortened left leg after a road traffic accident

Abstract


A 48-year-old male patient was admitted to the emergency department after a road traffic accident. The patient complained of pain in the thorax, pelvis and left hip. His neurological status was unremarkable. On physical examination, his left leg demonstrated minimal movement, excruciating pain and appeared short in length. Plain radiographs (Fig. 1) and computed tomography (CT) scans (Figs. 2, 3) were performed.
