Abstract

Urachus is a tubular embryological remnant extending from the anterosuperior surface of the bladder to the umbilicus. There are several types of anomalies regarding its formation which could lead to complications such as inflammation and tumor formation including the rare yet clinically significant urachal adenocarcinoma. Radiologists play a pivotal role in diagnosing these conditions, necessitating a comprehensive understanding of both the imaging features and underlying anatomical and histological principles of the urachus. Through this review we aim to clarify critical imaging concepts that enhance diagnostic accuracy and guide optimal patient management strategies.
